Research objectives and contentThe project aims at the investigation of the new systems capable of activating carbon-fluorine bonds intramolecularly or intermolecularly. These new systems might include polyhydrido transition metal complexes. In addition, it could carried out the study of these new systems in some related reactions as carbon-chlorine activation. The third objective will be to investigate a methodology for catalytic C-F activation which builds on the recent discoveries. The first generation of new catalysts would be based on Ru(dmpe)2H2. The fourth objective will be to explore the initiation of C-F activation reactions of fluoroalkanes and fluoroaromatics by electron transfer from metal to fluorocarbon. Training content (objective, benefit and expected impact) This project could lead to the discovery of new catalysts of C-F activation of fluoroalkanes and fluoroaromatics, and new catalytic processes. Furthermore, the results should give information about the elementary steps of the catalytic reactions. This information would be important in order to design new catalytic systems, which in the near future, could have practical application for the industry. In addition this project could lead to new systems capable of activating C-F bonds intramolecularly or intermolecularly, as well as related reactions. Links with industry / industrial relevance (22)
