Накратко на български
Микросфери от полилактид се използват за капсулиране и освобождаване на ваксини в организма. Разбирането на връзката между структурата им и скоростта на освобождаване на лекарството помага за оптимизирането на тези системи.

Цел на проекта
Research objectives and content A project is proposed whereby the incorporation of vaccines into polylactid acid will be described. It is well known that the use of such microspheres provides a valuable method of delivering vaccines to the body. However, much less is known in terms of the physical structure of such loaded spheres in relation to vaccine release rates. The aim of this project is to enhance our understanding of the relationship between the structure of vaccine-loaded microsphere and the in vitro release behaviour, with particular emphasis on the development of MDSC as novel approach to their characterization. The objectives of the project are to: - examine the effects of preparation method on model vaccine incorporation - characterize the structure of loaded microspheres using MDSC - relate the physical structure to the in vitro release behaviour. The deliverables of the project will be: - enhanced understanding of the incorporation of vaccines into micropheres - development of MDSC as a novel means of characterising vaccine-loaded microspheres - enhanced understanding of the relationship between structure and vaccine release patterns, leading to optimised design of these systems in general terms. Training content (objective, benefit and expected impact) The training content is to develop my own knowledge base regarding not only the microspheres systems under study, but also the MDSC technique; this method is becoming increasingly important within the pharmaceutical sciences and Dr Craig's group are the primary international authority on pharmaceutica applications of this methods. My training will enable me to develop the use of this technique within my own countrary. Links with industry / industrial relevance (22)
