Накратко на български
Разпространението на вълни в среди с фрактална структура се анализира чрез проследяване на движението им около неправилни препятствия. Това помага да се разберат връзките между геометрията на средата и начина, по който се разсейват вълновите пакети.

Цел на проекта
Research objectives and content The formalism of fractals has by now penetrated various fields of Physics. Important applications are the scattering of waves by rough interfaces and transport properties of quasi-periodic media. The present purpose is to study both problems in connection to multi-fractals. First, we will investigate the relations between the quantum motion of wave-packets and the multi-fractal properties of the energy spectrum and quantify the intermittency of the motion in terms of singularity spectrum and wavelet dimensions of the spectral mea sure. We will also study the quantum dynamics generated by random fractal spectral measures and build corresponding physical models. Secondly, we will study the propagation of waves encountering fractal obstacles. The empha sis will be put on the time-dependent aspect, for which there are untill now only few results. We will relate the time-space behaviour of the wave-packets to fractal dimensions of the scatterer and study the impact of the singularity spectrum on the intermittency of the motion. Training content (objective, benefit and expected impact) We aim to benefit from the experience the host institute (Center for the Study of Dynamical Systems, Como) has acquired in the study of quantum motion and anomalous diffusion. At the same time, we bring some techniques that are a strong point of the origin institute (Centre de Physique Theorique, Marseilles): wavelet and scattering theory. We hope this will lead to a fruitful collaboration.
