Цел на проекта
Research objectives and content The relationship between, on the one hand, the way information is processed and communicated, the ordering in which decisions are taken and, on the other hand, the choice and performance of an organisation is the core of the research proposal for my post-doctoral training. My motivation to conduct research in this field is twofold: first, little research has still been done on this theme; second, understanding the role of information processing in firms' organisation is the natural extension of my PhD thesis, entitled 'Networks, Innovation and Gr'. hMy PhD thesis presented a formal analysis of the impact of telecommunications usage on firms' organisation and productivity. Based on this work, I would like to analyse the impact of communication flows on the performance of two hierarchical structures, the M-form and U-form, and to show that these structures have different ways to organise information exchanges among production units. My research work is thus intended to show that hierarchies usually thought as the epitome of the centralisation of authority, are also remarkably efficient in organising communication flows. Training content (objective, benefit and expected impact) My objective is to formalise a model that can offer complementary explanation on the functioning of hierarchies and firms' internal organisation. In particular, it-will help in understanding how the distribution and the communication of information among agents in firms' internal organisation is one of the crucial determinant of firm's performance. The training I request will allow me to improve my background in organisation theory and to disseminate the results of the research done in the context of my PhD thesis Links with industry / industrial relevance (22) Telecommunications Industry
