Цел на проекта
An immunologist is required to join our research team investigating extensive ruminant production systems. The successful applicant will investigate the relationships between nutrient supply, body reserves and immune status of dairy cows in both organic and conventional systems. Studies will focus on the effects of body protein reserves on immune competence and will be linked to existing nutritional studies, though there is scope for independent work. The work will be based in modern laboratories at the Aberystwyth Research Centre of the Institute of Grassland and Environmental Research (IGER). New facilities are available for large-scale experiments with over 300 dairy cows as well as detailed studies in our purpose-built animal house. IGER is the major publicly funded centre in the UK for research into grassland agriculture. Further details of facilities are given at: www.iger.bbsrc.ac.uk/igerweb/. This Marie Curie Host Development Fellowship is available for a period of 24 months. Applicants should have a first degree in a biological science and have been awarded a PhD for work involving the use of in vivo and laboratory techniques for evaluating immune competence. Some experience of studies with farm animals would be an advantage. It is open to post-doctoral scientists from EU or Associated countries, but not UK nationals or those who have worked or studied in the UK in the last 2 years. Applicants should be 35 years old or less (with allowances for childcare or compulsory military or civil service).
