Цел на проекта
Applications are invited for a two-year Marie Curie postdoctoral position to be held at the Observatory of Complex Systems, a research group in the Research Unit of Palermo of the Italian Institute for the Physics of Matter (INFM). The successful candidate will be involved in a research activity focusing on the statistical physics modeling of non-coding DNA regions in complete genomes. The non-coding DNA regions of complete genomes present repetitive sequences, which will be investigated across species by using concepts of disordered systems, information theory, stochastic processes and theory of complex systems. Applicants should have a deep knowledge of the above disciplines and research records in at least one of them. The most important qualification for this position is a demonstrable ability to perform high quality research in the area of modeling symbolic sequences with methods of statistical physics and stochastic processes. Familiarity with the basic aspects of genome organization across different species will be a plus. The research will be carried out at the Observatory of Complex Systems (http://lagash.dft.unipa.it/). This research group performs state of the art research in the field of the analysis and modeling of complex systems. The main area of research is modeling of complex systems and a new research project about the statistical modeling of non-coding DNA has recently started.
