Marie Curie Fellowships The Governance of Urban Safety: Crime Prevention and Public Policies Department of Criminology, Keele University The Department of Criminology at Keele University is a leading centre of research and teaching on issues of urban safety and community crime prevention in the UK. It is home to a number of internationally renowned scholars working on issues of risk and insecurity in the urban setting, victimization and fear of crime, policing and community justice policy, and the evaluation of community crime prevention strategies. Research is based on a broad range of theoretical and methodological approaches, including ethnographic studies, quantitative survey research, and evaluation designs. Integral to the Department is the Crime Policy Evaluation Research Group (CPERG). The Department is offering a number of fellowships to junior researchers working in the area of urban safety, governance, and community crime prevention, and invites applications for projects that address a broad range of topics and methodologies. It encourages comparative projects that address issues of policy transfer in community crime prevention within the EU and across eastern and central Europe. Fellows will be non-UK nationals who are registered on a doctoral programme at a non-UK European university institution. They will be students in their second or subsequent year of study who wish to take advantage of the excellent research environment provided by the Department, for a period of six months. Fellows will be encouraged to take advantage of the University's Social Science Training Programme, as well as the research training courses and seminars run by the Department. Each Fellow will receive an allocation of 1200 Euros per month and a contribution to travel costs up to 100 Euros per month.
