Цел на проекта
Geochemical & Geophysical Studies of Mantle plumes and Rifted Margins. Two fellowships are available for PhD students from EU Member and Associated States (excluding Denmark) to visit this EU-funded Marie Curie Training Site at the Danish Lithosphere Centre (DLC) for research training. The Danish Lithosphere Centre comprises an interdisciplinary group of international researchers, working together on aspects of the evolution of the Earth's lithosphere, in particular(i) the nature of mantle plumes,(ii) the development of rifted margins, and(iii) the stabilization of lithosphere early in Earth history. The primary research methods used are geochemical (high-precision isotopic analyses by MC-ICPMS, micro-sampling techniques, etc) and geophysical (seismic reflection and refraction data, earthquake seismology, numerical modeling, etc. Students will visit for a period of between 3 and 12 months to pursue their doctoral studies in a stimulating environment, and to receive training in state-of-the-art geochemical analytical techniques or in seismic data analysis methods. They will be enrolled in specialist graduate-level courses in geochemistry and geophysics run by DLC staff or, if relevant, as part of the University of Copenhagen graduate training schools. Fellows will be given access to the extensive analytical, computing and library facilities available in the Geocenter Copenhagen, of which the Danish Lithosphere Centre is a part. Travel and subsistence costs will be provided by DLC. Applications are encouraged from both women and men, and will be evaluated on an equal opportunities basis.
