Цел на проекта
FZI is a technology transfer centre in the state of Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany, which focuses on application oriented research in computer science. The knowledge management research group under the direction of Prof. Dr. Studer has been working on different aspects of knowledge-intensive systems, especially on the Web. The topics tackled by the research group deal with the generation of machine-processable semantics of (meta-)data. Formal vocabularies explicitly representing meaning of (meta-) data play a major role in all pursued approaches. Thus, technologies for the management of ontologies and metadata are tackled in approaches developed at FZI. This includes the support of extraction of ontologies and metadata, the management of metadata and ontologies, the maintenance and presentation strategies on multimodal devices. FZI pursues an application-oriented approach, thus several applications, such as knowledge management and portals on top of this kind of high quality data are developed and realized. The research group has as well gained national and international reputation in the area Semantic Web and Knowledge Management, as demonstrated through the involvement in regional, national, and European projects and through numerous publications. Candidates should have both theoretical and practical knowledge on knowledge representation and engineering and web technologies. The fellows will enjoy scientific, technical, and social benefits' from his/her stay at FZI. On the scientific and technical side, (s)he will get to know most recent state-of-the-art approaches to Semantic Web technologies and their application. (S)he will further benefit from the business engineering and computer science department of the University of Karlsruhe, incl. possible participation in lecturers and seminars. On the social and cultural side, (s)he will enjoy the life in the south-West of Germany close to France. Overall four fellowships are offered.
