Цел на проекта
The aim of the project is to analyse, partly in cross-national comparison, the delinquent behaviour or adolescents within community contexts employing quantitative multilevel techniques, and focusing particularly on the differential effects of social influences on boys and girls, and on adolescents from immigrant families. The research will be part of the \'Cambridge Network for the Study of the Social Contexts of Pathways into Crime\'(SCOPIC), a multi-sited, multi-disciplinary network investigating the role of social contexts, and its interaction with the development of delinquent and criminal careers. The Peterborough Adolescent Study (PADS) which supplies the core empirical data, targets the developmental period (ages 12 to 15) when offending peaks and follows the cohort from a period of low Involvement in crime to its peak involvement. The key hypotheses are that social mechanisms influencing age-related offending varies with community context, and that differences in individual\'s routines, processes of decision making, and perceptions of alternatives play a significant role in accounting for those variations. Increased knowledge about the pathways of crime in the adolescent period may significantly contribute to development of effective policy and prevention initiatives targeting the peak period of offending. The research will focus on three concrete objectives:1) The measurement and modelling of community context characteristics based on official and survey data on the neighbourhood level from cities in different European countries,2) Analysis of routine activities and action spaces of adolescents which are believed to play a key role in shaping the effects of social contexts on adolescents\' delinquent behaviour, using extensive data from a time-budget questionnaire; and3) Gender and ethnic-specific analysis of pathways into crime in social contexts.
