Final Activity Report Summary - TAROT (Training And Research On Testing)

This project, dedicated to testing software and communication protocols, involved 10 European partners plus one university from the Russian Federation, namely Tomsk University. The TAROT network was built around the more advanced universities in the testing domain, covering the techniques to model and test software and protocols. By testing, we implied the validation of the specification, or the model, through verification mechanisms and the checking of the actual implementation regarding the model. More than 350 publications in international conferences, workshops, books and monographs were provided from that project. Besides, active participations in many scientific events could be mentioned. Nine early stage researchers (ESR), among which three women, and four experienced researchers, among which one woman, were recruited through this network by the universities or research institutes of the various projects. These researchers were mainly of European origin but came also from Asia, South America and Russia. Regarding the ESR several courses were organised, as well as four summer schools by four different universities. Moreover, these schools offered the EST the chance to listen to industry representatives illustrating their testing experiences in their companies and, in addition, to be invited in their labs so as to understand how the testing was practiced outside of the universities. Finally, it should be noted that this four year project is a real success, being fruitful for the researchers, the recruited persons and the industry representatives.
