Цел на проекта

Recognising the importance of having high quality research teams, the Nord-Pas de Calais region is now facing two challenges: - how to attract new research talents in Nord-Pas de Calais to compensate for the lack of researchers in this area, for example by implementing new research centres; - how to encourage more young people to consider scientific careers, as the number of students who are on science courses has decreased dramatically for the last five years, up to a decrease by 50% in some sectors. Taking advantage of the « 2005:International Year of Physics event (which benefits from the UN label, all the regional stakeholders involved in the education and research sector have gathered to propose a wide and complementary range of events to promote a better public understanding of the contribution of science and research to society. The UFR of Physique of the University of Lille is the leader of the organisation of this series of events. It will coordinate the action of all the stakeholders, who i nclude: the seven regional universities, some engineer schools, regional laboratories, regional high schools, Scientific and Technical Culture Centers. Thanks to this regional mobilisation, the programme of activities will deal with many science sectors in original places (Maisons Folie") and through attractive supports (such as arts and theatre). These activities include : - Research professions explored by children: through interactive workshops, children become scientists; - Science through arts: pu pils and teachers work with artists to create their own theatre play, based on a scientific theme. Artists, students and university teachers will also collaborate to create art events like plays, music concerts, art exhibitions throughout the region; - S cience in cities: understanding a physical phenomenon thanks to art exhibitions or hands-on workshops taking place in original cultural places."
