Цел на проекта
The over-all aim of this proposal is to emphasize the contribution of researchers to society but at the same time familiarise the work of researchers to the general public. Popularising the work researchers do, will lower the mental barriers between rese arch and so-called ordinary work and will encourage more young people to find their future in R&D. Special attention will be paid to girls/ women in science. The project will also give people ideas of what research can actually be, besides that custom ary research work alone in researcher"s chamber', and give them concrete examples of the every day matters that we take for granted but only exist because of persistent R&D. The project will promote the attractiveness of European Research Area and d eliver information of the possibilities that exist in the European Employment market for researchers and in transnational co-operation. The aims of the project will be met by producing material, which will also be spread out through Internet, national t elevision and radio, organising short scientific courses for young people and organising a scientific event. The project will have a large impact locally in Eastern Finland, nationwide and even in European dimension. The immediate impacts are seen locally and are in great importance as (nowadays weak) local knowledge and appreciation of local and global research work needs improvement. The impacts in nation- and EU-wide will be reached through the national media (YLE) and Internet. In addition, authoriti es and politicians of the region and state will be informed of the success of the project by reports and discussions. This will be put into practice for example in the meetings organised regularly between the consortium of the partners and municipal mana gers of the area. Good practices will be delivered to other regions in Finland, and they may also be adopted to use in other member states."
