To achieve the objective of attracting young people to take on a scientific career means having to be capable of communicating with them by using their own language. Communication based on words and on a unidirectional sketch are things of the past. New ge nerations have been educated in a society in which images have not only taken over words as a discreet language unit, but also the interactivity between the issuing person and the receiving person is a basic requirement of present-day communication. If we really wish to explain to young people what science is, how it is carried out, and how researchers really work, and if we really wish to transmit to them the pleasures and the rewards derived from such practices, we must be able to approach them through a communication based on both ¡mage and interactivity. It is for this very purpose that we propose four fundamental activities in this project that are based on these concepts. An art exhibition that shows the influence of both science and new technologies on the most modern artistic trends, an exhibition which reveals the role women played, and still do, in scientific development, a film season on science in which scientific tasks are debated and the stereotypes are dismantled after watching the films, a c ampaign to disseminate scientific information in the media so that this type of information becomes something regular. It has been proposed to carry out all these fundamental activities, which appreciatively respond to the initial intention of testing the efficacy of a new form of communication based on both image and interaction with young people. Our objective is to take the message of how important scientific works are to the rest of society too in order to combat the idea that has traditionally placed science on an ivory tower at a distance from the rest of society. Research is a vitally important asset in modern civilization, and it must form part of the overall culture.
