Цел на проекта
The Isaac Newton Institute for Mathematical Sciences is an international research institute of outstanding reputation, covering the broad spectrum of mathematical sciences. During the period 2004 to 2008 the Institue will hold a number of interdisciplinary programmes and it is intended that Marie Curie Conferences and Training Courses will take place during these programmes. Those programmes approved to date for that period are Statistical Mechanics of Molecular and Cellular Biological Systems, Random Matri x Approches in Number Theory, Magnetic Reconnection Theory, Quantrum Information Science, Magnetohydrodynamics of Stellar Interiors, Model Theory and Applications to Algebra and Analysis and Pattern Formation in Large Domains. These programmes and others l ikely to be approved in the future cover a large part of the science and technology areas which form the seven thematic priorities of FP6. Mathematics is a vital underpinning tool across all sciences of immense importance, and conferences held at the Newt on Institute will encourage the development both of basic science and of new mathematical techniques relevant to established scientific areas. A common theme of all these Newton Institute programmes will be the ways in which mathematics is an essential com ponent of scientific advances, in particular in priority areas for the EC. The objective is to ensure that the work of the Institute, focussed in a theme at the conferences, is disseminated more widely in the European Community, and that more young people from across that community are given the opportunity to participate in workshops and seminars in a wide range of mathematically-related sciences. The Marie Curie Conferences and Training Courses are linked by the fact that they all explore an important to pic at the cutting edge of the mathematical sciences but it is expected that different scientists will attend each event and hence a large number of young people could be involved in the series as #
