Накратко на български

Нанообекти от полимери, метали и surfactants се изучават за създаване на нови материали, като например сензори или инхибитори на HIV. Тези разработки помагат за подобряване на фотодинамичната терапия срещу рак и създаването на електронни компоненти.

Final Activity Report Summary - NANOTOOL (Synthesis, self-aggregation and properties of nano-objects in chemistry, biology and material science)

Our EST site offered fellowships for trainings on nano-objects made of surfactant, metal nanoparticles or dendrimer / polymers. Those three fields are based on three different types of chemistry but lead to common applications (in biology, material science, catalysis,...) and encountered similar drawbacks or difficulties (stability and dispersibility in solution, processability, organisation on surface...). Laboratory intersectorial projects were therefore proposed in order to work at the frontiers between two research fields. The objective was to apply knowledge of one type of nano-objects to one other, leading presumably to highly innovative research projects. This is indeed the case: a large majority of the scientific productions of the EST site is related to such intersectorial projects, which correspond to circa 50 % of the fellow months. Multidisciplinary projects were designed to work on a specific type of nano-objects but from the synthesis to the applications of these systems. Such trainings led to new or reinforced interactions with European laboratories. New molecular systems for photodynamic therapy against cancer or to create new efficient in vitro HIV inhibitors, dispersable metal or metal oxide nanoparticles for sensor or electronic applications, material with liquid crystal and magnetic properties etc. are examples of research work performed during the 4 years of the EST site. The research results of our EST site are currently around 50 papers, patents, participations to a congress etc. 60 % of this scientific production is related to the intersectorial project demonstrating the efficiency of the proposed strategy. All our fellows will (or have already) defend a PhD thesis: many of them have made this choice after their training in our EST site, which has therefore strongly promoted the scientific studies at the highest level. In general, for each open position, many applications were received and all our proposed fellowships have been filled by students having an european citizenship. Those facts demonstrated the demand at the European level of such training. This project has also created new bonds between the training site and European laboratories but also within the training site, it has induced many collaborations and cross-fertilisation of fields existing in our training site. Our laboratories have therefore gained in efficiency and visibility thanks to this EST program. The overall satisfaction of the researchers and the fellows of our site is very high.

Цел на проекта

The heart of this proposal is to give access for European fellows to interdisciplinary knowledge and training focused on the elaboration and properties of nano-objects (metal nanoparticles, dendrimers and surfactant aggregates). The training site localized at the University Paul Sabatier in Toulouse is composed of three internationally recognized research teams working with a multidisciplinary approach. It will provide to the fellows the common technical and methodological background on three complementary aspects of those nano-objects:- the chemical synthesis leading to size and shape controlled nano-objects,- the control of their organization and mesostructure in volume or along a surface- their properties in catalysis, biology and material science. The training will combine laboratory work focused on a cutting edge" research project and lectures. Those lectures (selected academic courses, weekly seminars, talks given by invited world famous scientists and lectures dedicated to the EST fellows) will broaden and deepen the fellow's knowledge in the field, promote innovation and interdisciplinarity and help the trainee's career development.Through the multidisciplinary research project, the fellows will be trained in various chemical syntheses (organochemistry, chemistry of heteroelements, surfactant chemistry), in the characterization of the nano-object mesostructures (they will have access to the most advanced characterization techniques) and in applications of the nano-objects in connection with societal issues (catalysts for green chemistry, environmental sensors, drug carriers, transfection, anti-HIV agents for health care issue). This training will ensure the development of a pool of young scientists having a large multidisciplinary background and able to deal with the challenges of the nanomaterial field. It will increase synergies and collaborations between European research centres and favour the leadership of the European activity in this field."
