The aim of CMIAG is to establish a unique, world-class multi- and interdisciplinary research-training programme in advanced medical image analysis. CMIAG will bring together a rich mix of specialists in Computer Science, Mathematics, Magnetic Resonance, Neuroimaging/Neuroscience, Clinical Neurology, and Psychology, to provide a high quality training programme in integrative medical image analysis and high performance computation.CMIAG will target the crucial areas of healthcare, assisting medical image analysis and diagnosis of brain diseases, tumour, cancer, and the aging process, by machine interpretation of Magnetic Resonance (MR) scans and other types of medical images and data. CMIAG will benefit from high performance computing paradigms such as e-Science/Grid, which has the potential to revolutionise medical imaging research and disease diagnosis by allowing a unified approach to tackle complex tasks. The ultimate objective of CMIAG is to address the problem of EU research fragmentation in the vital area of eHealth by bringing together key researchers from various domains of expertise to create a dynamic, critical mass of medical imaging specialists, for medical data acquisition, processing, analysis, and disease diagnosis via collaborative research in the Grid environment.
