Накратко на български

Геологическото съхранение на парникови газове изследва начини за тяхното безопасно затваряне в земните пластове. Това помага за борбата с глобалното затопляне и неговите последици.

Final Activity Report Summary - GRASP (Greenhouse-gas Removal Apprenticeship and Student Program)

The main objectives of the project was providing a multidisciplinary training platform to build a group of young researchers able to tackle the Greenhouse Gas Geological (GHG) storage issues for the next decades in order to fight the Earth global warming and its consequences. In GRASP, sixteen Academia and Industry partners have joined efforts: To educate and train a new generation to the disciplines of geophysics, physics, petrophysics, geology, microbiology, chemistry, mineralogy, geochemistry, reservoir engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, chemical engineering, mathematics and rock-mechanics to address the key domains: reservoir characterization, storage monitoring and wellbore isolation. To gather recognised scientists from leading European universities, ideally placed to transfer knowledge and industrial partners (ranging from GHG producers to technology providers for GHG mitigation) who have a culture of Research and Training, jointly with Academia, and a recognised capacity at selecting and training researchers in technological innovation. To conduct research activities in the domain of GHG storage. GRASP included three workpackages and 16 partners from the academic and private domain. GRASP was coordinated by IPGP (France). At the end of GRASP, the main objectives have been met. 35 Early Stage Researchers (ESR) and Experienced Researchers (ER) have been hired to conduct scientific research for a total of more than 602 months and received a total of more than 3000 hour / person of training to disciplines pertinent to GHG storage issues during 21 GRASP events (Summer and Fall Schools, Advanced courses, International Conferences, Seminars, Laboratory and Industrial installation visits, Test site visits, and field trips) in addition to numerous local conferences and seminars set at every partner's institution. Research activity in the Framework of GRASP lead GRASP ER and ESR to disseminate their findings as 14 papers published in international scientific journals and 55 presentations at scientific congrés (poster and oral). More than 15 publications are in phase of preparation for submission in 2011 and numerous presentations at international scientific congrés will be realised in the near future, ensuring the continuation of the visibility of the GRASP RTN after its legal end. This set of young fellows is ready to apply to jobs in the GHG field. At the legal end of GRASP, September 30th 2010, 10 fellows have already set in positions at academic or industrial institutions. 8 will continue research as Postdocs. 9 will continue at partner's institutions their on-going PhD study launched in the framework of GRASP. PhD thesis defence will be in 2011 or 2012. For the remaining, ie 8, the status in pendent or unknown at the present moment, there are in the phase of waiting the results of job applications. A community of partners is now set and inter-partner research projects have emerged and will continue after GRASP.

Цел на проекта

The concern of this Marie Curie Research Training Network (RTN) is global warming due to the increase of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. The training and research effort lies in greenhouse gas (GHG) removal, focusing on geological GHG storage. Three major work packages aim to address the issues of capacity and sustainability of a geological GHG storage place: wellbore isolation to counter any eventual GHG leakage from the injected formation to another or to the surface and to ensure sustainability, reservoir characterization to evaluate the capacity and sustainability of the targeted injection formation and storage monitoring to quantify an eventual GHG leakage to the surface. The multidisciplinary partnership of Academia and Industry merges the sciences of geophysics, physics, geology, microbiology, chemistry, mineralogy, mechanical and electrical engineering, mathematics and rock-mechanics to provide solutions for and to train a new generation of young researchers in GHG storage issues for the next decades. The network will organize a well-structured multidisciplinary training and knowledge transfer (ToK) program. Early-stage and Experienced researchers will attend advanced network-wide courses, technical individual training and soft and complementary skill courses run by the partners to develop a full proficiency.Organization of workshops, summer schools, and participation in international conferences will be important elements of the training program where young researchers can communicate their results and exchange knowledge between the research teams. Another communication and evaluation platform will be meeting the scientific committee, which evaluates the research progress and quality, and the training and ToK committee, which asses the ToK activities and plans the training of the fellows. Ultimately, the network-training program intends to provide Europe with a Centre of Excellence" in GHG storage, which will last beyond the time period of the RTN."
