Накратко на български
Семейната динамика в Египет между IV в. пр.н.е. и VII в. сл.е. анализира отношенията между поколенията, включително осивяването и повторните бракове. Работата помага да се разбере как семействата са се подкрепяли взаимно, което е полезно при разглеждане на днешните проблеми с застаряващото население.

Final Activity Report Summary - GENERATIONAL EQUITY (Intergenerational Equity in Hellenistic, Roman and Byzantine Egypt (4thc. B.C. - 7thc. A.D.))
The main research result of this project is a monograph on 'The family in Roman Egypt, a comparative approach to solidarity and conflict' (Cambridge University Press, 2011). It is the first substantial and authoritative analysis of household life-cycles and intergenerational interactions ever attempted, starting from an urgent topic of debate in the contemporary world - how the increasingly aging population aim to be supported. It is the first study in monograph form that explicitly deals with family life in Roman Egypt, which is surprising in view of the region's abundance of documentary sources which provide us with fascinating information about family life below the social and political elite, and the variations between urban and rural families. Dr Huebner explored further aspects of this subject in article form, such as the peculiar endogamous marriage pattern, the practice of adoption, or the implications of remarriage and the blending of two families.

Цел на проекта
Intergenerational Equity in Hellenistic, Roman and Byzantine Egypt (4thc. B.C. - 7thc. A.D.) The purpose of the inquiry Dr Sabine Huebner wants to carry out is to analyse how people in antiquity tried to solve the problem of equity between the generations. The analysis will deal with the topic of solidarity between generations, defined by traditions, religious precepts, moral concepts, and determining economic, social and political factors, a solidarity that could be expressed by parental care, financial aid and residential care of the elderly. The term generation" stands for the collectivity of individuals born in a specific period of time. The defined solidarity between generations is referred to as intergenerational contract. The inquiry explicitly deals not only with the relationship between the working generation and the retired one but also with the obligations parents had to their underage children. Changes and shifts of emphasis during the transition from a Graeco-Roman to a Christian society will b e paid special attention. The care for the elderly, thoughts of justice, compensation and rewarding will play a leading part; aspects of social, religious and cultural history and the history of mentality shall complement one another. An analysis of the after-life and influences of Graeco-Roman and early Christian ideas and values on the present society will conclude the research. Due to its wealth of documentary source material and cultural, ethnical and religious diversity Egypt was chosen as a case study."
