Накратко на български

Наночастици от рутений и паладиум се тестват за провеждането на последователни химични реакции. Това помага за създаването на ефективни катализатори, които могат да се използват многократно.

Final Activity Report Summary - NANOSIZED CATALYSTS (Development of efficient recyclable nanosized multicatalyst systems for cascade reactions based on transition metal nanoparticles ...)

Three distinct series of ligands have been tested for their ability to stabilise ruthenium and palladium nanoparticles. These nanoparticles have been fully characterised using conventional analytical methods as well as using novel methodologies, such as quantification of the amount of hydrides present at the nanoparticle surface. Furthermore, an in depth study has been performed toward the ability of these nanoparticles to perform various types of catalysis that are normally only carried out by homogeneous catalysts. The use of a combination of homogeneous catalysis and nanoparticle catalysis to perform cascade reactions led to the development of new bimetallic ruthenium-palladium nanoparticles that show activity for several reactions and are also able to perform cascade reactions.

Цел на проекта

To achieve a sequence of efficient and selective catalytic conversions, highly ordered multi-catalyst structures are required. Despite the tremendous progress in transition metal catalysis, which has already resulted in several examples of efficient cascade reactions, the level of control of selectivity in multiple step transformations still needs a lot of improvement. In this project we aim to achieve efficient cascade reactions on unsaturated carbohydrate substrates by assembly of multiligand systems on nanoparticles. Polydentate ligands having different donors at well-defined positions will be designed using dendrimers as support. This will result in controlled construction of different complexes at specific locations of the transition metal nanoparticles . By just changing the properties of the ligand one transition metal can be used for different catalytic transformations. Moreover, catalyst decomposition can be prevented since the nanoparticles can function as the 'storage' for latent metal centres that would otherwise precipitate from the reaction medium and be depleted from a continuous flow membrane reactor.
