Накратко на български

Методите за определяне на нуждите при създаване на софтуерни услуги, например за домашни грижи, се анализират чрез новата рамка EFRASYS. Това помага за въвеждането на добри практики и по-точното оценяване на тези методи в реални условия.

An evaluation framework for service-oriented requirements engineering

Service-oriented computing (SOC) is an evolving interdisciplinary paradigm arising from the idea that software applications can be constructed by composing and configuring software services. This paradigm poses novel challenges for research because of the way software applications are designed, architected, delivered and consumed. In particular, the development of this paradigm has given rise to a new area of study called service-oriented requirements engineering (SORE). Considering that the researcher must develop new methods for doing SORE and evaluate them in empirical contexts for key application domains, empirical evidence in the evaluation of SORE methods is severely lacking. So, for the purpose of improving the spread of good practices in empirically evaluating SORE methods, within the Marie Curie Programme (Intra-European Fellowship), at the Information System group of University of Twente, Condori-Fernandez defined an empirical evaluation framework called EFRASYS. This framework is based on a mixed approach that combines theoretical and empirical approaches. It consists of three components, namely a suitability evaluation method, an algorithm based on fuzzy logic for managing the impact of changes on evaluation criteria (quality attributes) and guidelines for supporting the design and report of empirical evaluations. For evaluating the suitability of SORE methods to specific domains, such as home-care, three issues were investigated from a theoretical approach: domain constraints, principles of service oriented paradigm, and generic evaluation criteria. Moreover, considering the dynamicity of contextual conditions, an algorithm for managing the impact of changes on evaluation criteria was developed. With respect to the third component (empirical approach) the guidelines proposed include a set of recommendations about which existing experimental platforms could be used for empirically evaluating SORE approaches (e.g. methods, techniques) on a large scale and in the long term. Moreover, the framework has also benefited from a unified checklist for designing and reporting observational and experimental studies, which was evaluated and adjusted within the EFRASYS project. Although the EFRASYS components have been validated in the home care domain, we plan to concentrate on the evaluation of the integration of the three components in other domains.

Цел на проекта

EFRASYS aims to create new methodological frameworks for evaluating software development methods and techniques within the new discipline of Service-oriented Requirements Engineering (SoRE). The project will involve the following multidisciplinary research: (i) New and novel SoRE methods and techniques will be analyzed with the purpose of understanding their nature, assumptions, and principal associated features. (ii) Empirical software engineering methods will be applied to SoRE, through revision of existing empirical research techniques to identify potential uses and value, and production of a set of guidelines to combine empirical research techniques, for example simulation-based experiments, to suit the nature of services-oriented computing. (iii) Software measurement will be involved through definition of quantitative and qualitatively measurable attributes from service customer and provider perspectives. (iv) Theoretical disciplines such as ontology and cognitive psychology will be incorporated into the understanding of SoRE methods to complement the evaluation framework. EFRASYS will be developed within the IS Research Group of the University of Twente under the supervision of two prestigious researchers in their respective areas, namely Requirements Engineering and Sofware Measurement. The high quality of the host institution and supervisors as well as the complementary training and experience that will be provided, will allow her to attain career goals as senior researcher, professor and business consultant. EFRASYS is relevant to the Marie Curie Work Programme because it will allow the fellow to develop new research competences including the new service orientation computing paradigm, improve existing research competences at an advanced level in empirical software engineering and measurement and in related disciplines, and hone skills in lecturing, leadership, and industry-research collaboration.
